Gentoo Developer Conference 2005This will be an all day event in San Francisco on August 12th, 2005 (day after LinuxWorld) with presentations on Gentoo and other Open Source topics. This will be a great opportunity to meet and work with Gentoo developers and users. For those who can not attend, the event will also be webcast thanks to Indiana University. Accommodations for the conference is being provided by Global Netoptex, Inc. There will be a modest registration fee for the event. Come hear from Scott Kveton as he shares his thoughts on the state of these communities and where he sees it all heading in the next few years.
10:00 - 11:00 How to integrate OpenLDAP and keep your sanity: the gentoo.org experience

The audience will be introduced to the general architecture of LDAP and its usage in UNIX environments for central management of users and authorization. The implementation used for gentoo.org infrastructure will be examined outlining how OpenLDAP allows an easy, centralized and very powerful administration of devs accounts and authorization on the different services we provide. All caveats, tricks, problems and procedures of the integration will be described in detail. A question and answer session will follow.
11:00 - 12:00 The Gentoo Release Process and Catalyst LiveCD-building Tool

Presented will be the Gentoo release cycle from planning through completion, along with a roadmap of the future ideas for Gentoo's releases. Also covered will be the Gentoo release-building tool, catalyst, followed by a question and answer session.

1:00 - 1:30 Gentoo Foundation Overview and Update

An overview of the Gentoo Foundation's first year of existence will be given, along with updates on where the Foundation is today, and what some of the plans for the coming year are. There will be much time allotted for question and answer.
1:30 - 2:00 Gentoo Infrastructure - What it takes to run the distribution

From developer testbeds to the distribution of releases, Gentoo has a lot of hardware out there making everything work. This session will bring an overview of what it takes, how many servers are out there (and where), and other trivial information. Also discussed will be some of the pros and cons of the current way things are setup, using Gentoo as a case-study of sorts.
2:00 - 2:45 GenUX Installer demonstration

The new GenUX Installer will be demonstrated in this session. This installer kick-starts a system into Gentoo using GenUX prebuilt packages. An explanation of the upcoming service will be provided, along with Q&A time.
3:00 - 5:00 GPG Keysigning, Bug Squashing, and additional informal Q&A
